I've just setup a new MX64 which is connected to the internet and is routing traffic fine.
I want to send some traffic to another gateway on our LAN but the MX64 is still sending it to the default WAN gateway.
Under "Addressing & VLANS" in the Control Panel I have added a static route. Now after adding the static route when tracrert the MX64 is still sending the traffic to the WAN link and not the gateway I have specified.
I'm using the ping / tracert tools built into the Meraki Control panel.
Can see the gateway:
Tracert going to wrong gateway
Static Route:
Any ideas?
Solved! Go to solution.
I'm wondering if there's some confusion around the fields here?
Name is just a textual description of the static route. A comment or a remark, if you will.
Subnet is the destination you are trying to match in CIDR notation.
Gateway IP is the next hip IP address you want to forward traffic to.
Are you by chance meaning something like this:
Is that the actual static route you are using? That doesn't make any sense, and it certainly doesn't match what you are trying to ping.
What exactly are you trying to do here?
Sorry, wrong gateway on that screen grab 10.0.0.1 is another router on the network.
So i'm trying to send traffic to 10.0.0.20 on the meraki device. 10.0.0.20 is the firewall gateway to another network. The destination IP is I'm trying to send traffic to is 155.231.231.1,
The MX64 seems to ignore the route and just send it out of the default gateway.
255.255.255.255/32 doesn't match 155.231.231.1.

Many thanks, I had misread the fields. 🙏
