Just to clarify - they can take an additional power supply - but you still need to order it.

thanks for the clarification, that was exactly what i was wondering.

so, in all MX model that support redundant power supply, we still half to order the secondary power supply.

Correct.

Actually - all three of those models ship with BOTH power supplies.   Check out the 'Included in the Box' section of the MX Datasheet here:   https://meraki.cisco.com/product-collateral/mx-family-datasheet/?file

Unless you're in the US though, you will need to order appropriate power cables (both of them)

I'm not sure what to think now.

I had a look at the last MX250 I sold, and the quote I got from the Cisco distributor lists the redundant power supply as an additional item, and it has a price next to it.  Usually, the items included in the bundle are listed as $0 line items.

Has the Cisco distributor been doing my quotes wrong?  Could be - but then wouldn't I have been getting an additional power supply turning up?

Could this be a Cisco theatre ordering and shipping difference?

Could it be that the additional power supply is a compulsory item you have to order?  I don't know.

The switch lineup doesn't ship automatically with redundant power supplies.  Would the MX family use a different set of rules here?

This has now really muddied the waters for me.  I guess I need a customer who wants to buy an MX, but doesn't want to pay for a redundant power supply, to see what is actually shipped.  However this is not something I would counsel for.

Even with switching things were sometimes a little complex;   while they're now End of Sale, the premium access MS350s and MS355s, off the top of my head, did come with both PSUs - no additional line items needed.  Currently shipping switches which support dual PSUs now all ship with just one, to my knowledge - if you want a second you need to include it as an extra line item.   (NB. customers looking at 9300/9300X should always also think about StackPower in conjunction with additional PSUs)

BUT it always pays to check the documentation, I'd say.  That's where, in the case of MX, I think we can do better - particularly for 250 and 450.   There are documents for all which do say you get both PSUs, but I think we could be more crystal clear & consistent in more places, considering that we have a generic MX datasheet (the one I shared yesterday) but also MX95/105,  MX250 and MX450 individual datasheets - and we have Installation Guides for each too.   When I get chance I'll ask for updates to these, to provide more clarity.

Not sure I can help with what has happened with previous orders / deliveries of yours @PhilipDAth - but MX105 / MX250 and MX450 should indeed ship with both PSUs and, to my knowledge, this has always been the case.
