I recently started a new venture outside of IT, digital signage. As with anything electronic there is an inherent risk connecting it to the internet and commercial displays are no exception. I was recently at a trade show with no public internet access and faced with having to open ports on my firewall to allow the signage access to the content server in my colo I decided to try something, using a MX64 with a LTE stick and auto VPN. While it was not ideal it worked perfectly with no messy configuration needed. Additionally it gives me another item to sell in my solution. I'm also excited about the vMX100 which means I can run my content server in the public cloud and no longer have to expose it to the web as well.
