Incredibly high 20 minute usage alert

The 20 minute usage on the removed-appliance  network from 09:40 AM to 10:00 AM EDT on Jul 11 was 6.28 TB.

This has to be false, the graph doesn't reflect this. Just curious of this is a concern or if anyone else has seen this.

Hi @Ted-Laun , if your naming convention is something to go by then the device isn’t in production?

removed was there so that I didn't publish our site name. I probably should have put it in italics .

😉 got you.  What do you see on the WAN traffic graphs for that time period? Presume they’re telling you a different story?

I would say for peace of mind a call or ticket into support for verification may help here.

We are facing the same issue:
In the last days we keep receiving alerts about "high network usage" on Meraki, e.g.:

The 20 minute usage on the XXXX - Location - appliance network from 10:00 AM to 10:20 AM CEST on Oct 11 was 119.98 GB.

Although there is no spike in traffic when checking the dashboard, the overall traffic over 2 hours is around 200GB.

The majority of the traffic is internal and is made up of CCTV cameras that are fed into the NVR through a separate VLAN, but it's not even close to 100GB / 20 minutes.

Changing the alert threshold is something I can do, but I'd rather understand the triggers to improve my monitoring.
Any ideas ?

Just so you know our traffic in part was also Camera traffic. We don't have all of our cameras and the NVR on its own VLAN as of yet though. Traffic to the NVR is always our highest node.

Also been dealing with these bogus usage spikes for weeks now on several of our MX's, where client traffic does not come close to what the GB usage shows in alert. Latest ticket response I recieved:

Greetings,

Thank you for your patience while our engineering team worked to resolve this issue. Our engineering team has advised there is a fix available for this issue on firmware 19.4.1. There will also be a fix available on 19.2 but this is still being worked on at this time and not yet available.

Thank you,
