Difference between MX250 and MX 400

Hi Guys,

When we look out the features  ,MX250 is having more capacity.than MX400 . But by looking the product model names , MX 250 is seems to be lower end . So getting confused with  the model names . Does MX250 will replace the MX 400 in future?

Thanks!

The MX250 and MX450 are the latest MX models. The MX400 (and MX600) are the previous generation models. Don't worry about the numbering - it'll all be aligned again in the future.

Between the 250 and the 450, the 250 is the "lower end" model.

MX250 & MX450's were released several months ago.  Over the 400/600 they provide hardware encryption offloading and 10gb SFP+ fiber WAN interfaces. There are other differences with the innards of the devices but from a customer perspective they provide much more throughput beyond the 1GB the 400/600 were capped at.

The MX250 is better in every way than an MX400.  So for a new deployment you would only buy an MX250.

The only reason to buy an MX400 would be because you already have one, and want a warm spare.
