Hello,

I have a very strange issue on Meraki configuration. 

Users are behind a Meraki Security appliance that has an site-to-site VPN connection with our datacenter. When they open an excell,  a macro is started creating connection to an SQL server in our datacenter and this fails (ConnectionRead (recv)).  When the user tries to open the file for a couple of times the connection is accepted and the macro works fine.

If you run amp/ips  check the security  center  if its not blocking anything.

You could also try disable fw on a client to see if thats a problem.

 Do not have a license for threat protection so normally AMP shouldn't apply to my configuration.

Is this a non-Meraki VPN (as opposed to AutoVPN)?  If so, you might be experiencing an MTU squeeze.  You could test this by reducing the MTU on one workstation to something like 1300 and see if it resolves it.  If it does resolve it, open a case with support and ask them to reduce the MSS on the MX to 1300.

Failing that, you are going to need to take packet captures to figure out what is going wrong.
