6Ghz Band in Indonesia

I'm having problems with my Meraki CW9164 wireless device, which is the 6GHz frequency, and the latest firmware I'm using is MR 31.1.8.

The regulations issued by the Indonesian government, according to the Minister of Communication and Digital, state that it can be used, but in reality, the Cisco Meraki Wireless device for the 6GHz frequency cannot be used.

I'm not sure if we have any other members who work in Indonesia, your best bet may be to contact support. They should be able to answer whether that's supposed to work. While the compliance tool list Indonesia as being approved, I don't believe that covers 6Ghz and I can't find any document that has an up to date list of 6Ghz countries. Based on other vendors it appears 6Ghz was approved in the past 12 months or so and these things can take time to be in full compliance.

Hi, according to the Allianz Wireless organization, the 6 GHz frequency is open and supported by the Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation No. 2 of 2025. Oddly enough, other wireless brands have already implemented the 6 GHz frequency, and Catalyst Wireless has implemented the 6 GHz frequency, but not Cisco Meraki.

The government allowing it to be used and then a product actually being able to get certified are two different things. Most countries require testing and documentation for their specific regulations before allowing the release of the hardware or software enabling the feature. As many countries are in the process of doing this, I'm sure there is a todo list that Cisco has internally.

Regarding the you seeing a note saying Catalyst supports it, while the hardware is the same, the software is different. I suggested asking support to see if it was supposed to work on Meraki. If you already know it's not supposed to be, then you would need to ask your Meraki Rep to look into it, as roadmap is generally not disclosed publicly.

Besides what @Mloraditch says about verifying with Support whether or not 6 GHz is supported on Meraki in Indonesia, make sure to also configure your SSID correctly for 6 GHz.

The AP will not broadcast it in 6 GHz if it is configured incorrectly. Make sure you are using WPA3 and 11w is set to Enabled to Required. Also make sure that the SSID is checked for 6 GHz in the Radio Profile.
