Return to service doesn't work

A bit of a rant here, last few days of work with a lot going on and I have 20 iOS devices I need to refresh so I erased the devices using the below options.

Now the command went through but not correctly. All it did was remove the enrolment profile and not erase the device.  So now I have the manually erase each device using configurator and start from scratch. It's my fault for trusting the system but a word of warning for anyone else looking to use this feature test it with a single device first.

Note: All devices running iOS 17 as required.

iOS/iPadOS Return to Service
Seems like this issue goes back a bit (time wise).

In April, a response indicated: Meraki SM and Apple are still working together on this, but no ETA for resolution at this time.
