Meraki Systems Manager WOL

Hello,

Just looking into Wake on LAN for some devices on our network. I read somewhere that Meraki Systems Manager might be able to send WOL commands, but I can't seem to find the option anywhere or any documentation on it.

Is there a way to enable WOL directly through Systems Manager on windows endpoints?

This wouldn't be an MDM (Sytems Manager) feature, but WoL can be initiated from the meraki Dashboard, for meraki switch ports:  https://documentation.meraki.com/MS/Monitoring_and_Reporting/Using_the_MS_Live_Tools#Wake_Client

Ι see so there is no actual way to send a WOL command to the Windows endpoints only for meraki switches. Thank you for the fast response!

The magic packet(s) are send to the endpoints (whether Windows or other WoL-compliant system) but they are generated by the Meraki switches, controlled via the Dashboard.   You do need Meraki switches providing the ethernet connectivity though...

Hi Odysseas,

Brandon from the dedicated Meraki SM Team here. I can confirm if this is not a Profile configurable option as mentioned above. That being said, we do have a Beta Powershell scripting feature that will allow you to deploy custom scripts (must execute under 60 seconds) - when the Meraki SM Agent is installed. This is outlined in the below documentation:

https://documentation.meraki.com/SM/Apps_and_Software/Deploying_Powershell_and_Shell_Scripts_in_Syst...

Note: The Meraki Systems Manager Scripting feature is currently in Early Access beta and currently needs to be opted in. The Early Access page is available to org-write admins in the navigation menu by going to Organization > Configure > Early Access.

Hi Brandon,

Thank you for the information. I went ahead and opted in for that feature. I have one question, though. how can the agent run the script if the endpoint is off? For example, will it work if I set it to run every Sunday at 18:00 even if the endpoint is off?

Hi @Odysseas,

Great question:

For scheduled scripts to function the device must be online at time of schedule or else the scheduled run will be missed (device will run at next schedule).

Cheers
