Usage and clients reporting of Usage Data

Primarily, I need to understand what the resolution of the Usage data is that is being produced in the Usage and clients details section on the Clients tab.  The data I see being reported here is actually about 1/3 of the real data usage of some of the devices I'm monitoring.  I'm trying to understand what the collection rate is and retention.  For example, I have three devices running consuming approximately 18kbps each however the portal is showing about this for all three devices together and odd record points such as two records every 20 minutes for the Last 2 hours option.

The Historical usage data on the Access-points tab is similar with hourly data samples.

The Live data Uplink traffic is a lot better in terms of data frequency and volume but shows a lot more data usage than expected as well as it's capturing a lot more noise.

I'm not sure about the collection rate and retention as I've not seen public documentation on it, but there are several caveats about usage data listed here that may explain your differences: https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Cross-Platform_Content/Clients_Usage_Page_Ov...

Thanks for the replies thus far.  I think one thing to note from the https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Privacy_and_Security/Dashboard_Data_Availabi... page is that there is no port usage element for the ports on the MX.

What I also need to confirm is the data usage statistics vs the bandwidth usage reporting, the bandwidth reporting might be averaged or recorded at an infrequent rate but the listed download and upload data might be accurate in terms of total volume.

What I'm considering is things like how we poll switches/routers from Solarwinds for instance for collection of bandwidth usage and data volumes, in some cases we poll for 1 minute statistic intervals to get more accurate usage data than the default 9 minute for instance.

I'll probably raise a support case for a more accurate answer once I check in with our customer account team on this first.
