Dashboard API v0 -- End-of-Support -- Sunset & Grace Period

Saying goodbye to Dashboard API v0….and Hello to Dashboard API v1

API v0 endpoints are end of life, are no longer supported, and are non-operational.

It has been a long and amazing journey. First released in 2016, this young interface proved its might, solving problems and saving time wherever it went.

Alas, it is now time for Dashboard API v0 to walk into the sunset where v1 will carry on the mission of simplicity and scale.

The current Dashboard API v1 is designed to take you to the next step in this continuous journey.

Why is it time to sunset v0?

  • To take advantage of the many enhancements implemented in v1
  • Reduce maintenance and support of multiple code bases
  • Reduce support issues as a result of legacy code
  • Improve consistency with the developer experience.

While both the 'deprecation' and 'sunset' dates had been previously announced, we recognize that it takes time for people to migrate.

With this in mind, we are announcing the following specific dates and timeframes for discontinuing support of v0.

On Feb 5, 2022, the API v0 will sunset, meaning no support will be offered and operation is not guaranteed.

We have also provided a Grace Period for support, which extends support until Aug 5, 2022.

What’s your next step?

  • Leverage the Grace Period to help prioritize migrating to v1 endpoints, so that there is minimal or ideally no reliance on v0.
  • Encourage anybody using v0 APIs to identify those endpoints and prioritize migration to v1 instead.

Key dates to bookmark:

  • August 5, 2020: API v0 deprecation
    • No new features, operational
  • Feb 5, 2022: API v0 sunset
    • No support, operation not guaranteed
  • Aug 5th, 2022: End of Grace Period
    • No support escalations, operation not guaranteed.

FAQ

What does deprecation mean?

  • This version of the API is no longer being developed but continues to operate as expected.

What does sunset mean?

  • In addition to no further development, customer support is no longer provided for issues relying on this version.

What is the Grace Period?

  • An extension of "support" from Meraki, where cases involving v0 API endpoints will be honored, but the developer/customer is still requested to update their service to use v1.

What does EoS (end of support) mean?

  • All development and maintenance for v0 has suspended.
  • Support cases involving v0 will require the software to update the API calls to v1 before any additional troubleshooting.
  • Ecosystem partners using API v0 will need to update their integrations to v1 to remain supportable.

We've just released a new tool to make it easier to identify v0 usage. You can read more in our announcement.

Hello. Do you have a guide to complete this migration? I have found parts of the process but some parts are not working.
