In UK too on Shard 199.  Even the Meraki AI doesn't know the context:

Or do we think it is for C9500 switches...?

It is! Also all VRF capable C9K platforms. See Cisco Live presentation here, 40m50s: https://www.ciscolive.com/on-demand/on-demand-library.html?search=brennan&search=brennan#/session/17...

Thanks for the link to the presentation, it was very informative about 17.18 and all the upcoming features.  I like VRF lite, routed ports and better BGP.  Not so sure how well RPVST+ will play in the Meraki simple world, but at least the checkbox does warn the user... 😬

It's not for MX. It's for 9500s

@Brennan_Martin what platforms will support loopbacks and routed links?  Is this Catalyst only or will select MS130X/150's also have these?

Mloraditch

It's IOS-XE based platforms.

Catalyst platforms where XE already supports routed ports and loopbacks, correct.

Ok, well the GUI is letting me select an MS switch when creating it.
I'll test out tomorrow if it lets me save the config which would be weird 😜

I'm guessing it's not entirely out.

Trying to configure a routed port on a C9300 gives me this.

rhbirkelund_0-1753778387178.png

No option to select a VRF, although I could create one.

Doesn't look like I can assign it though, from the looks of the Network column.

rhbirkelund_1-1753778476423.png

It's not listed in the "show run" on the 9300 either, which follows from it not being assigned.

It requires the 17.18.1 IOS-XE code on the switch

correct - 17.18 minimum. Trying to get that out the door to beta ASAP.

We are waiting for this feature on our MX85 and MX450 networks. Will it work?

GIdenJoe

I don't believe this was announced at CLUS.  So I'm not sure if this is coming.

The implementation that is coming now is on the switches to be able to finally have a routed campus or a fabric where the MX will probably be serving as a fusion firewall.

As a partner I can safely say that no nda is being violated when I say I have seen absolutely zilch on this being on the MX roadmap. Right now the focus is on making MX code work properly on the new secure router hardware and that's on just one model. They aren't even talking about getting the routers to work like the switches do (native IOS-XE).

While I can't say it's not on any roadmap, I wouldn't be deploying MXs, hoping this will come there.

Yeah I get the distinct feeling that the switch development under Brennan is going like a bullet train while the MX development is still at the station.

Are you implying that the different Meraki Product teams are *large gasp* not coordinating releases?!

That's quite the compliment @GIdenJoe ! I can't take much credit for the pace of our switching development - we have some incredible dev teams (I can't say for sure that dark magic isnt involved).

We are absolutely collaborating with our MX brethren on VRF, but we should let them comment on their specific plans for VRF support. I will share this thread with them and see if they can share any details.

I haven't seen it on the MX roadmap either, as such. But there was the session from Tech Field Day last year (I think?) that presented a segment on Adaptive Policies using VRFs, and since an MX is required for Adaptive Policy, it is kind of implied to be on a roadmap.

But that may just be me leading to much into it.
