Claiming devices with name

Hi all,

I want to claim devices to a network by typing the following syntax: "SN, name" like suggested in the dialogbox, but this returns in an error. Is there a workaround?

For 1 device its not a problem, but i want to add 50+ devices...

PS, XXXX is ofcours the SN and the SN is correct.

Thx for any help!

Hi @GunterDS , welcome to the Meraki Community! 😊

I was able to replicate the issue with the new version of the "inventory" tab. Please make sure to submit a support ticket so that the engineer could submit an issue with the product team.

The workaround would be to use an old version, which didn't give me any issues. I was able to claim both switches and access points with the name. You can switch to old version by pressing "View old version" in the top right corner of your dashboard.

Hope it helps!

Kind of a big deal

I just tested this and it doesn't work for me either. this is a new feature so it may be a bug. I'd open a support case.

This is a new capabilty to me - Dashboard clearly seems to be considering it as an order number, for which a name makes no sense.

Did you try claiming just the serial number, without the name?

One thing to bear in mind with this - it's usually better to claim order numbers than individual serials / cloud IDs, as it claims all the serial numbers - and any included licensing - all in one go.

That does leave you to configure device names separately, of course...

On the issue you;re actually seeing, I'd suggest raising a case with Meraki Support.   Please let us know how you get on!

Hi GreenMan,

Claiming without the name works.

Just tried it with the "old version" and this way i can add my devices with "SN, name". So it seems to be a bug like Mloraditch suggested.
