"I've spent about 30 years doing assorted tasks in the IT world so far and have even managed to get paid for over 20 of them! As it started out being a hobby, I consider myself pretty lucky. My initial paid experience was in PC retail, I then moved to a (sadly deceased) networking vendor, Madge Networks, where I ran a test lab for new NIC driver releases, from there I got my next two roles on the basis of understanding the intricacies of token-ring, so though it too may be effectively extinct, I have fond memories.
Whilst my role is now not focussed on the front-line of technological development, I maintain a keen interest in the industry's progression and am a strong advocate of solutions that are usable by generalist IT support team members, hence my championing of Meraki."
