Hi all,
We have been testing the MG21E within our environment and are very happy with this device. We are looking at purchasing for all our sites as a failover device and before i commit to this, i was wondering if there are any plans to support 5G and if so when?
Solved! Go to solution.
Yes, that's probably the MG51.
Announcement is from Today/ Cisco live:
It will be listed here: https://meraki.cisco.com/products/wireless-wan
I am a Meraki Partner, and Meraki generally dies not talk about their future product plans, even to their partners
That said, it would seem reasonable that they would be working on a 5G version. There are many hurdles, regulatory and with the carriers, so a turn around time is not likely to be very quick. On thing you could do check is to see if Meraki has devices in the FCC regulatory testing process.
Has anyone heard of the 5G version (T-Mobile) coming out yet?
@Looker44 I'm sure there will be one, but no idea how soon. I'd also like to guess it will be called an MG51(E) 😈
The MG41 is CAT 18.
According to https://www.everythingrf.com/community/what-is-lte-cat-18:
LTE Cat 18 is the new technology introduced by 3GPP as part of the LTE Advanced protocol, that supports up to 8 spatial streams, 4x4 MIMO on 3 LTE carriers, 5x20 MHz carrier aggregation and 64/256 QAM. LTE Cat 18 provides a faster and better broadband experience with speeds up to 1200 Mbit/s downlink and 211 Mbit/s uplink. It is compliant with 3GPP Release 13.
