Claiming abandoned Comcast equipment

• Hello Cisco, welcome to 2025. My name is Tim Wenz. I am a former contractor for Comcast Business in Massachusetts, USA. I have tried contacting Comcast Business to recover a small amount of networking equipment from my personal residence. I can not find resolution to this issue after calling and sending certified mail to their headquarters. I believe all the devices are claimed and I have taken possession of them since it is now over a year and 2 months. One firewall out of five I currently have is S/N: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx and MAC:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. I also have 4 24 port Meraki switches. I would like to claim all of these devices so I may sell them. If someone has a moment to respond with my next appropriate action I would greatly appreciate some assistance. It would be irresponsible of me to simply recycle or dispose of this equipment. It seems Comcast is to large a beast to respond to me.

You really shouldn't post your Meraki serials or MACs in any public forum. Both can be claimed by anyone.

Also, if you intend to sell the gear it needs to be unclaimed from any Org so the purchaser can claim it.

If Comcast has claimed the devices in their Meraki Dashboard then only they can unclaim them.

You could try creating a Meraki account and seeing if you can claim the devices INTO A NETWORK (not just inventory).  You won't be able to claim the devices if Comcast has still claimed them.

If you can claim them, then you can unclaim them, and someone else will be able to use them (they will need to buy licneces to make them work).

I guess at the end of the day who legally owns the equipment i.e. who purchased it and has proof of purchase.
