Tough to justify getting the Insight license just for this. Seems like it wouldn't be a hard lift for Cisco to add an alert for this, but just my opinion. They already show the status in the GUI, can alert on switch ports being up/down, and can alert on the primary uplink. Will probably either just ping it or use the api to get status periodically.
