I work at a university with on-campus housing. I have been some complaints from students that they are not able to play online multi-player games using their XBOX. Not an extreme concern for me, but trying to understand what is happening. Most of the students get an error "NAT Type: Strict and UPnP not successful" We are full stack Meraki environment, MX450>MS250>MR33. On the MX450 for the student housing buildings, there are NO outbound firewall rules, completely wide-open! Not sure why some, not all, of the XBOX consoles are getting this error. Haven't received any complaints from any using another games console, i.e., PS4 or PS5.

I think I found the fix? Sounds too simple, but a reboot of the MX450. Since the reboot on Friday, approximately 48 hours ago, device utilization is about 15% with 5800 clients connected. Keeping an eye on it…

I have a full Meraki stack in a higher-ed environment, (2) MX 450 security appliance, (100+) MS 250 switches, and (500+) MR 33 42 and 84 wireless access points. Over the past few days, i have been complaints from users about latency and slow Internet speeds. My ISP connection is 5GB, split between both MX appliances. Daily bandwidth consumption is average 1.5GB, so not reaching our limits there. On a daily average we have about 5,000 clients connected. There is (1) traffic shaping rule on the public wireless to limit clients to 20Mbps, but when running a speedtest, clients are averaging 1.2Mbps. I have been looking in my dashboard and organization summary reports trying to figure out what is going on, and noticed that my Public Safety department's non-Meraki IP cameras and NVR's have high usage, one NVR usage is 1.04TB daily. Most of the cameras are 80+ GB usage. The MX appliance device utilization is 90-100 percent daily. I'm trying to find the smoking gun, but nothing obvious jumping out. Could it be the security cameras and NVR devices causing latency and slow Internet speeds for everyone? How should I go about controlling usage of these devices? Not sure what else could be causing these slow internet speeds...

Thanks, I've reviewed this documentation, the thing that worries me is the following: Note: When binding an existing network to a template, its current configuration will be lost and it will begin using the template configuration. I am trying to avoid losing the configuration of my existing networks. Each existing network configuration is unique. Yes, I understand that I can apply local overrrides, but it seems the configuration will lost as soon as bind the existing network to the template. In one of my networks I have 100+ switches and 900+ wireless access points, and a MX security appliance. Can't afford to lose these configurations...

I am starting a project to implement splash pages for my SSIDs using Splash Access. I have (4) networks in my environment that contain wireless, security (MX), and switches. It was suggested that I use templates to configure my SSIDs so that it can be replicated across all (4) networks. I am a novice when it comes to using templates. I understand they can make management of multiple networks more convenient. Since this is the first time I am using templates, my question is, If I create a template to setup the splash page for the wireless, will the template cause any changes on the switches and security appliances? Each security and switch network configuration is unique, and I don't want to impact the configurations if I utilize a template. I only need the template for the wireless. Is templates the best way to go with this or should I manually configure the SSIDs for each network?

Yes. I have a 5Gb Internet circuit that I am receiving from the ISP that needs to be connected to MX450. I need to be able to keep all the security features enabled on the MX450.

In addition to wireless access points, I have Meraki MS250 switches for wired connections. All the wireless access points and switches are connected to the same network with the MX450 within the dashboard.

I have a MX450, setup in HA pair, in a campus environment that is connected to a 1GB Internet connection. The MX450 is used exclusively for the student residential housing units, approximately (10) buildings with about 10,000 connected devices. In addition to using the MX450 as the security appliance and traffic shaping, the MX450 has all the VLANs, Layer 3 interfaces, and DHCP scopes configured for the residential housing units. In each residential housing unit there are (125) MS250 switches and (950) MR33 wireless access points. Due to the increased number of devices on the network, the campus has decided to increase the Internet circuit to a 5GB connection. Based on the documentation that I have found, the MX450 is only capable of supporting a 4GB Internet connection with all the security features enabled, and 6GB connection with security features disabled. My question is, what is the best design or configuration to consider to implement the new 5GB Internet connection? Turning off the security features on the MX450 is not something we want to do. Can I split the traffic between the (2) MX450? It is my understanding that a MX450 can only be part of one network. If I choose to split the MX450, will I have to crate another network? Will the switches and wireless access points need to be moved to the new network? Not sure what the best path to choose...

Yes, with the exception of one campus, at each campus, the Meraki gear is connected to a Cisco switch or router. I will try to disable 'uplink sampling' and see if that solves the issue.

I am certain that clients are not moving between campuses. Geographically, each campus is about 30-40 miles away. In addition to their own Internet circuit at each site, the sites also have a layer 2 "Metro Ethernet" connection provided by the ISP provider so that each site can access internal resources. There is a MS switch at each site that the "metro ethernet" connects to that also has a trunk connection back to the Core switch in the main campus data center

I manage a network at a university. We have a main campus, and (3) remote campuses. In the Meraki dashboard, I have (1) organization for the university, with (4) networks for each campus. Each network has a MX Appliance, Switches, and Wireless. Each network has is using it's own unique DHCP, Addressing & VLANs, Firewall, wireless, and switch setup. When I select a network, i.e., Campus A, I am seeing wired and wireless clients from the other networks, i.e., Campus B-D, in that dashboard. This is making it appear that there are more clients in the network than there actually are. For example, Campus A, is a remote site with only 20 users 60 physical devices, but in the dashboard it shows 4,500 clients. These are clients from ALL of the combined networks. How do I configure the dashboard to only see clients in a particular network? Each network is currently set to combined, do I have to split the networks? Do I need to create a "organization" for each campus / network instead of creating a network for each campus? I just want to have an accurate view of clients at each campus. Please advise...

I think that we have found a work around. It appeared that the Solstice Pod had both wired and wireless connections. We disabled the wireless, so that we used the wired port only, and enabled bonjour forwarding, and that seems to be working. So far this has worked on one pod, I will be trying this on some others to see if this can be a long term solution.

there seems to be a problem with the UDP broadcasting of the pods. It seems the solstice pods use udp port 55001. Also, none of the pods can be seen by the iPads via AirPlay. This is how the iPads communicate with the pods. Here is a link to the network settings for the pods https://documentation.mersive.com/content/topics/admin-network-settings.htm It seems the bonjour services are still not visible. The solstice pod issue is preventing faculty from using the iPads to communicate their ideas. It’s creating quite a bit of frustration among the faculty. The UDP broadcasting is not recommended by Mersive; however, the alternative requires a windows server on the wireless that I cannot deploy right now and will require additional coordination.

Yes, i have tried disabling the bonojur forwarding feature. That was the first thing I tried. Same result... The AP's for this area are connected to a MS250 switch. I did notice in the switch settings that in Multicast Settings, IGMP Snooping is enabled, and Flood Unknown Multicast Traffic is disabled. In the Storm Control Settings, Multicast traffic type is set to 1% of available port bandwidth. Do these settings need to be adjusted?

Layer 2 LAN isolation is disabled, and the Layer 3 firewall rule policy is set to allow any protocol to local LAN on the SSID and subnet

First time posting to the community. I work a school and recently the Computer Science department purchase "Mersive Solstice Pod", a collaboration device, that allows mirroring of a compatible iOS or Mac OS device such as an iPhone or MacBook using AirPlay. The Computer Science Department has MR33 wireless access points with their own SSID broadcasting in their areas that all of their devices connect to, including the Mersive Solstice Pod. All devices are on the same VLAN (1633) and subnet (10.33.16.0/21). I am having a difficult time getting the Mersive Solstice Pod devices show up to mirror iOS devices. The behavior is inconsistent. Some of the Mersive Solstice Pod devices show, and some don't. If one does show, it will then disappear. I have enabled Bonjour Forwarding on the SSID, with service vlan 1633, allowing ALL services. The SSID is in Bridge Mode. Not sure what else I need to do to get the Mersive Solstice Pod devices to show up in AirPlay. Am I missing anything?
