WIFI 6 and WPA3

Hi All

I have enabled wifi 6 on my 9164i access points, I have the SSID running WPA3 transition mode with 802.1x security.

Is there a way to tell if WPA3 is being used ?

All the clients have connected using 6ghz, does this mean WPA3 is being used? would the clients be able to connect on wpa2 to 6ghz?

cheers

If a client has connected to 6GHz then it is an indication that WPA3 is being used.  WPA2 is not allowed in 6GHz.

This is a real problem with the Meraki platform. It just hides too much important information from the admin.

It's just not possible to easily spot if, for example, all clients are WPA3 and the transition mode is not needed anymore.

My advice: Don't use Transition mode. Use a new SSID for WPA3 and move compatible devices into this SSID.

Or, as Stephen Orr (Distinguished Systems Engineer at Cisco) says: "With regards to security: nothing good ever comes out of transition modes (ever)"

I 100% back this.  I have had nothing but issues using transition mode.

if its a Windows machine, running the following command will show what band is being used

netsh wlan show int
