MR52's and firmware upgrade actuall installed version...
I have some MR52's and MR44 and MR46.
I have selected the latest released version MR31.1.6
The 44 and 46's do the upgrade. The 52's I don't think actually do the upgrade since I think they only support a 30.x version.
Anyway, my question is this: If I take an old MR52 that has a never been upgraded and apply the latest version or add to my network that is set at 31.1.6. What version does it actually upgrade to and run at? Is there a way to tell?
Thanks,
GL

@GL as @alemabrahao posted, the upgrade version for those models (when in a mixed network set to run r31-1) would be latest GA r30 release (MR 30.7.1)

According to the document, the MR52 can run Maximum Runnable Firmware MR30
Product Firmware Version Restrictions
Note: Meraki recommends checking the Organization > Firmware Upgrades page to verify which firmware version your network is running, rather than referring to the available firmware messages that may be presented for each individual device. The Firmware Upgrades page is the best method to ensure you have the most recent build.

Hi @GL
Some devices which have reached end-of-sale may have maximum support firmware versions. The node will not be able to run firmware versions newer or higher than the indicated maximum version, such as the MR52 in this situation. Keep an eye on the firmware restriction documentation as it's always up to date.

Yes I already know that. My question is not that. I have a mixed environment. Some MR52 and som MR46 in dfferent buildings of the same network.
I need to know if I the MR52 will go up to its maximum firmware automatically if I have it assigned to a network that has a setting for the latest firmware to acommodate the MR46.
Does the dashboard automatically bring an old AP up to its latest it supports. Or do I need to keep like models in separate networks and manually manage the firmware setting automataically. Is your manegement interface smart enough to handle that?
Also, the dashboard should display current running firmware on devices, not just the one you have selected to run. The current firmware displayed in the dashboard says 31.xx and I know that is not correct for the MR52.

802.11ac Wave 2 and older products will only upgrade to the backup version (MR 30.7.1) if they are in networks configured for MR 31.x.x versions, and thus, the new features will not be available. The bug fixes listed below will also not apply to Wi-Fi 5 Wave 2 and older MRs. (https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/Other_Topics/Cisco_Meraki_MR_Firmware_Restrictions_Overview_and_...)
Bug fixes
- General stability and performance improvements
- MR56 ethernet port flaps occur when connected to C9300-48UN(V04) at 5Gbps speeds
- MR57 ethernet port flaps occur when connected to MS355 at 5Gbps speeds
- MR46 not responding to Probe Requests from clients
- Channel & power not configurable via LSP on CW9163E APs
- Wildcard NAS-IPv6-Address AVP sent on config change (Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E APs)
- NAS-IP-Address discarded (Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E APs)
- RADSec authentication failures (Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E APs)
- Sporadic packet loss & instability on Layer 3 roaming & Teleworker VPN SSID's (Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E APs)
- DHCP offer is not forwarded if broadcast flag is set (Wi-Fi 7 APs)
- mDNS traffic blocked (Wi-Fi 7 APs)
- SSIDs broadcast on 6Ghz despite being disabled when using WPA3 transition mode (Wi-Fi 7 APs)
