MR44 poe compatibility with MS210 LP swithces

Hello Team

Need to purchase some performant wifi access point for my office.

The office :

1 big open spaces on the first floor with 50 users using google meet visioconference on laptops.

1 big open spaces on the second floor with 40 users using google meet visioconference on laptops.

I will purchase 8 wifi AP (4 AP per floor).

In term of switch we have 4 MS210 LP 48 POE and giga ports

Do you think the AP MR44 will be the good model ?

MR44 will need POE+ and do you think MS210 will provide sufficient power to use all the feature of the MR44 ?

Thanks for your reply !

This switch model provides up to 370W of power, so it should be sufficient for that number of access points.

You can easily find this information in the datasheet.

I wouldn't go for the MR44 any more. The new Entry-model is the CW9172. It will be supported much longer than the MR44 (which was also a great AP, but now, it's just to old to buy that device for a new deployment).

Thanks !

CW9172 is more recent but we don't need wifi7.

Do you think MR46 could me more performant than MR44 ?

You need to think on the future.

I think that @KarstenI gave you a good advice.

The MR46 is equally old. And in real world it's likely not performer than the MR44 as the only difference is the 4*4 radio on 2.4 GHz.

And you don't need to use Wi-Fi 7 even with a Wi-Fi 7 Access-point. But nowadays, having a 6GHz radio is the game changer if regulation allows the 6GHz usage.

Agree.

CW9172 is POE compatible with the MS210 LP (low power) Switch ?

I only have 1G switch port.

Thanks.

The CW9172 is compatible which is shown on the data sheet:

  • Maximum power requirement : (PD: 25.5W max 802.3at)

And with the entry APs, you will never go beyond 1Gig on the Ethernet side in real world deployments.

The MS210 series are on the EOL list - which is another reason to think the overall configuration/setup.

When people give me a description like yours, wanting high-performance WiFi and the ability to support lots of video conferencing, I tend to use a ratio of 1 AP for 10 people.

I haven't seen your floor plan - but I would tend to lean towards 5 APs on the floor with 50 people.

If you can, I would try to get some switches with some MGig ports, like the MS130-24X-HW (which has 6 x MGig ports) or the MS150-24MP-4X (which also supports 60W PoE for high-performance WiFi7 APs as well as 8 x MGig ports - and can do hardware stacking like the MS210).
