MR APs has 2 5ghz channels and observing clients falling to different 5ghz channels in Same AP

Clients getting re-authenticated to ISE server within same AP but changes to different 5ghz channel.

Example:

5 ghz channel :40

Dual band channel: 112

We see logs for user as "slow roam in single AP but change in 5ghz channel". PFB for more details.

In legacy WLC, we have some option to make dual band radio to Monitor or Client serving.. This option is needed in Meraki MR APs for admin control on this issue.

Need expertise input for resolving this issue.

How is the band steering configuration and client load balancing?

The band steering could help reduce the likelihood of customers switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels.

The client load balancing can be enabled to direct clients to less loaded APs. This may help if client connections are bouncing between APs.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

If you don't want two 5GHz client radios then set the flexible radio to 6GHz (even if you don't use it.  The AP already has a dedicated monitoring radio.

Could you please let us know the settings for this flexible radio option?

The flex radio settings are going to be located under Wireless > Configure > Radios Settings > RF Profiles Tab > Select your RF profile > General settings.
Note this is only going to be relevant if we have an MR57 or Cisco Catalyst Wireless 9166 AP.
