Entra ID splash page - Splash frequency

Hello,

We've been testing the new Entra ID feature on the splash page, and it's working well - the setup is straightforward and connections are reliable.

However, we've encountered a limitation with the splash frequency configuration. When setting the frequency in days, session expiration occurs at the exact time of the initial connection. For example, if I set the frequency to 1 week and connect on Monday the 18th at 10:00 AM, the session will expire the following Monday the 25th at 10:00 AM.

This timing creates operational issues, as disconnections can happen during critical moments like important meetings or file transfers.

Have you experienced similar issues? I'd like to suggest modifying the expiration behavior so that when frequency is set in days, sessions expire at midnight (00:00) rather than at the exact connection time.

Thanks for your consideration.

While you can use parameters like duration=86400 (for 1 day) in custom splash page redirects, the actual session duration is still governed by the splash frequency setting in the dashboard.
You can't set multiple durations for the same splash page. To offer different durations, you need to create separate SSIDs with different splash settings.
In this case, I suggest submitting a feature request.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

@MxAdmin34 I would strongly suggest that it doesn't happen at a fixed non configurable time.  Midnight is the middle of a session for some of us!  I can see the benefit of having an end of day time setting that would be useful for many sites.

I was thinking at midnight for the Local time zone of the network so it's always midnight for the users.

Another way could be 'every sunday'

No and no!

Both bad for hospitality!  Id be happy if it were an option you could pick, but 100% not the default!

I can't think how Meraki could change this.

If you say a week, should that be exactly a week (I think so) or a week+8 hours?

Maybe an optional splash page setting that let the admins choose a specific time in a day. It would be understood that some users would have it expire up to a day later than it should, but at least admins could pick a time that would be least interruptive to their users.

something like :
'day time connection' + 7 days + (24 - (hour time connection')) hours

exemple:

actually:

Last login atAug 25 09:16
Login expires atMon Sep 01 09:15:00 CEST 2025

after: (24-9:15=14:45) 14h45 added to the expire time
