Apple and Wifi Meraki

Hello

Our Wifi network is equipped with 4 MR33 access points and 3 MR36H access points on which phones can connect. There is no restriction on layer 3 and layer 7 firewalls for external network connections.

On an Android phone connected to the Wifi, we can receive WhatsApp notifications/calls/messages without problems.
On the other hand, it doesn't work on Iphone although in the WhatsApp configuration of the phone we have added the authorization to the local network.

Do you have any idea what is blocking on IPhone ?

Regards

Have you disabled sleep mode?

Hi,

We have tried :

  • Forget WiFi Network and Rejoin
  • Restart Modem/Router
  • Disable WiFi Networking Service

But Iphones have internet but can't use whatsapp. While Android phones do not have this problem

What type of authentication are you using?

There is some recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points.

Thanks for the link, I'll check if everything is configured correctly

We have the problem on our 2 SSIDs :
* The first one uses 802.1X with Meraki RADIUS encryption
* The second one uses PSK (WPA2) encryption

This sounds like an Apple problem, rather than a Meraki WiFi issue.

What is surprising is that we have the issue on iPhones but not on MacBooks

@pgrie2 macbooks use a totally different OS to iPhones.  They are starting to get a bit more similar with the latest models having the same chipset family, but there will be big differences for some time.
