Respaldo

Hola buen día,

En los dispositivos Meraki, se puede descargar la información y/o plantilla del dispositivo?, por ejemplo, ¿la configuración de un MX descargarlo y después cargarlo en otro MX nuevo?

Kind of a big deal

The settings are saved directly to the Meraki cloud, so if you need to replace an MX, simply remove the old one from the current network and then add the new MX to the network.

Things are really simple in Meraki.

My question is, when an MX device is already registered in an organization and I want to change the organization of that MX, will the configuration be erased?

Kind of a big deal

There are many situations that require moving a device between organizations, such as splitting up a large organization into smaller environments, or moving a device out of a trial organization into the production environment. For organizations that are following the co-termination licensing model, this must be done manually.

  • Only organization administrators have the necessary permissions to move a device between organizations
    • For security reasons, Meraki Support will NOT remove/move devices on behalf of an organization administrator
  • It typically takes about 5-60 minutes to move devices between organizations
    • During this time, the device will be updating and offline
  • The static IP addressing set on the devices will change when moved to a different organization
  • The dashboard configuration that is applied to the device will not migrate to the new organization
  • Licenses may only be transferred between organizations managed by the same customer

Hi JFer,

I hope your day is going well.

(1) If you are moving the MX from one Organization 1 to a New Organization 2 - Yes, the configuration settings will be the default - no configurations - https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Inventory_and_Devices/Moving_Devices_between...

In general, you could use scripts to download configurations such as - https://www.ifm.net.nz/cookbooks/meraki-backup.html. Unfortunately, Meraki Support Team will not be able to assist with the scripts.

(2) As alemabrahao mentioned, if you replace one MX 1 with another MX 2 in the same network in Org 1 - then, the configuration will be saved in the Meraki Cloud - https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Other_Topics/MX_Cold_Swap_Replacing_an_Existing_MX_with_a_Differ...

(3) If you replace one MX 1 with another MX 2 in a different network under the same Org 1 - we could possible clone the network -

Keep in mind a that some configuration won't be copied as per the documentation -  https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Organizations_and_Networks/Cloning_Networks_...
