Uplink from Meraki MS250 (layer2) to Catalyst WS-C6509-E (layer3) via Copper port

Hi Guys,

Currently I am looking to extend my existing network to connect a access switch (Meraki MS250-48FP) to core switch (catalyst 6509-E) as the core switch.

Would it work (compatibility wise) using copper port as uplink?

Yes, the SFP+ and RJ45 ports are functionally identical, just different media and speed options.

As @cmr said above, it should work without issue.

One thing to be aware of is that your C6509 is most likely running PVSTP+ version of spanning tree while the Meraki switch runs MSTP. Both are interoperable but there are some things to be aware of.

The following doc covers it off pretty well.
