Twinax cables purchase and distance.

Twinax trunk/uplink cables.
I have two switches that are about 10' apart, does meraki make a cable that long?

If so where can I purchase either Meraki OEM or after market cables that are of the same quality as OEM?
Thanks

Darrin

Kind of a big deal

Hi,

Yes, Meraki does offer Twinax trunk/uplink cables that are 10 feet long. The Meraki MA-CBL-TA-3M is a 3-meter (approximately 10 feet) Twinax cable with SFP+ connectors. This cable is compatible with various Meraki switches, including the MS350, MS355, MS390, MS410, and MS425

You should be able to buy it from the same place that you got your switches.

Getting noticed

FS sells 10ft Twinax DAC cables for $18.

These will work - but please be aware that in the event of an issue support may require you to utilize OEM cables or they could refuse troubleshooting. Not sure if that is a common occurrence - somebody else may be able to chime in on that.

I've personally used third party cables with zero issue, and you avoid paying the Cisco tax. YMMV.
