Meraki switch DHCP -PXE boot

We have a Meraki switch acting as the DHCP server. I want laptops to PXE boot using an image stored on a remote Distribution Point (DP) across the WAN.

  • DHCP Option 66 is set to point to the remote DP.

  • DHCP Option 67 is set to smsboot\x64\wdsmgfw.efi.

  • Boot options are enabled under DHCP.

  • Boot Next-Server is pointing to the remote DP.

However, laptops are not successfully PXE booting.

  1. Do we need to enable multicast for this to work across the WAN?

  2. Is there any configuration I might be missing to make PXE boot from a remote DP functional?

Why would you need multicast?
PXE boot is a unicast thing.

Maybe try to do a packet capture and see if the client device is receiving said options and make sure the TFTP server is reachable from that location.

PXE boot across the WAN? Is that a thing?
