Making Wishes Come True: Scheduled Exports for MV Cameras

Have you seen our latest MV feature? We've added the ability to schedule video exports in the dashboard. The feature is pretty easy to use, after selecting the start and end time for the video clip, just enter the date and time you want the export to run. Scheduling exports for after hours, when WAN usages is typically lighter, can help reduce the potential bandwidth impact on other critical business applications.

After the export runs, you can access the video file by going to "show recent exports". Now, the file will be waiting for you, rather than the other way around!

This feature (like motion alerts, camera floor plans, and more) was actually a request we received multiple times from the "make a wish" box in the dashboard, so we're excited to be able to make it come true for all of you.

So yes, in case you were wondering, we do see your wishes and develop features based on them. (Of course, it may help if you have the same wish as the product manager, so I'd suggest reaching out to @GeorgeB and seeing if you can't get him to make your wish, too. 😉)

What do you all think of the new feature? Did anyone else have this same wish? We'd love to hear from you!

Getting noticed

Hi

Is it possible to export and save only motion recordings during a time period? We only record motions in certain areas to follow up intrusion and vandalism. A issue is the amount of days these recording is saved. And it would be nice to have an reccurent saving setting and notification when it´s completed,

If you have motion based retention enabled, exporting video will only include the motion events. The final file concatenates the events and puts title cards between the video segments with the date and time each event starts.

For example if you select an export which covers an 8 hour time span, but there is only 1 hour of activity in it, your export file will be one hour long.
