Better quality needed

I wish the MV cameras had better image quality on the streams.  When looking at a still image on the MV73X in 4k mode, it isn't too bad, but it looks like early 4K TV with pixellation and blurring in some areas.  When you get motion it looks more like FHD.  The issue seems to be that the 4K mode uses a 5Mbps stream and the 4MP mode only uses a 3Mbps stream.  Now I know this extends the recording time, but I don't need 90 days or 60 days, a high quality 30 days would be more than sufficient.

It this just a me problem, having come from the casino industry where the CCTV even at FHD often has a 6Mbps or greater stream to remove the compression artefacts that blight the Meraki viewing experience.  I'd like the option of the streams to get up to at least 10Mbps and ideally more for the highest resolutions.

Hi @cmr -

Hope all is well and thanks for the feedback/experience!

I did want to pass along the following documentation which touches on the hardware limitations for the resolution vs retention vs FPS requirements per camera which I thought could be useful to see for our maximum options per model:

Thanks Brandon, unfortunately the bit rates that I mentioned above are actually what is set, it's logged in the event log.  I'd be happier with an 8Mbps stream at 4K than the current 5Mbps...  The 4MP@25 only sets the bitrate to 3Mbps!  Looks like there is either a planned change to work better with the cloud backup (that used to be restricted to the lower settings), or a bug...

Hi @cmr interesting results, I definitely thing this warrants a support case if you haven't already - if nothing else for added clarification on the results by an engineer that can do some deeper dive on the live data.
