Wanted to add a 3rd ISP in the existing infra

Hi Everyone

We are using 2 ISP links without load balancing or given preference to WAN1. We need to add one more ISP becuase of business needs. Since Meraki MX devices has only two WAN ports can we add third ISP.

I do not have testing lab to test below mentioned solutions. can anybody confirm and help.

Live Environment, we have 2 MX 84 and 3 MS350

Solution 1:

1. Terminate Third ISP on the MS Layer 3 Switch(MS - 350).

2. Merge two ISP's together and make it a trunk connection.

3. Extend them to any WAN port of Meraki MX.

4. Connect the remaining WAN port to the other WAN port of Meraki MX device.

Solution 2:

1. Add a load balancing device  in front of Meraki MX device

2. Terminate all three links over it.

3. Take two connections out of it and put over separate Meraki MX device.

Please tell me whihc solution is feasible and what are modifications required.

Note* we do not wanted to use cellular link for service 1200 users.

We need a full flesh DIA line whihc can server 1200 users. If any one has some better solution please let me know.

Regards

Hitesh

Kind of a big deal

meraki wan port is not a trunk. you could however let two provider/lines run a fhrp over your switch.

can't you connect provider 3 on the second mx? (remove 1 of the current provider on standby mx)

Hi Hitesh

Along side to what @ww suggests.

You may consider the Solution 2 too.

You may also consider to Add another MX84 in the Topology and Let your 2 ISPs terminate there. This gives you complete visibility of your network allowing you to utilize all the links simultaneously.

Having said that ideally 2 good ISPs is a better option.

You may consider avoiding 3rd ISP  to keep the architecture simple.

Also 1200 Users Load on MX84. I am not sure if you will be interested in doing this.
