VPN connectivity changes

Hi all,

for a couple of networks (not all), I have multiple connectivity changes per day:

At 11:09 AM AEST on Nov 18, the site-to-site VPN connection to DC-XYZ went down.
At 11:09 AM AEST on Nov 18, the site-to-site VPN connection to DC-XYZ came up.

These changes are only of short duration, and typically, no user is affected.

I want to keep the Alerts, but only if the loss of service is of longer duration (for example five minutes). Sadly, this is not configurable on the Alerts page.

At the moment, I only see our external monitoring system to help here, but we don't have probes in all branches, and we don't want to have server-like systems in the branches. ThousandEyes would be great to use, but we only have Advanced Security licenses.

Any idea for a workaround?

Thanks, Karsten

This is one of my biggest annoyances on a day-to-day basis.

I want the notifications for VPN's disconnecting, but not if it was down for a matter of seconds.
I also have 4G backups at some sites which drop and reconnect randomly due to patchy reception or IP address rollover etc.

Talking to our SE last week, apparently, he hears it quite a bit from customers.
Not sure if there's anything in the pipeline for it though.

Personally, I'm hoping that once we get a proper monitoring solution in place, I can just turn off the dashboard native alerts and use the monitoring tool to set holds and rules before notifying.

Getting noticed

We set up a webhook into Teams to notify of the VPN tunnel going down and immediately had to shut it off as we were getting constantly pinged. I'm glad they're on top of it enough that they CAN show us the second-by-second up and down, but being able to tune that up and say "only notify if down for x number of seconds" would be VERY helpful.
