Throughput per device

Hello,

How could we ensure or plan for throughput per device/user?

and

is there any dynamic power or MIMO beam forming option to channel the bandwidth with dynamic power budget to particular area within omni-directional antenna range if more devices concentrate around that area?

Thanks

BR,

M.

You've posted this under SD-WAN, but your question makes it sounds like you are talking about WiFi.  What type of device you do have?

If you are talking about MX devices have a look at this sizing guide.

If you are talking about MR - and the information is a little vague to really answer - then AutoRF will take care of most of the issue for you.

You could also consider getting a professional site survey done by a local company to plan out AP quantity and placement.  Ekahau is a stand out product in this area that most professionals use.

I've never personally used it, but if you feel like splashing some cash, they also make a version for IT generalists now.  You'll probably get a better result getting an expert in surveys to do this for you though.

Hello,

Thanks the AutoRF does seem to address part of the question.

The second part; if there is any mechanism to ensure throughput per connected device or per host in the coverage area.

e.g. if 10 devices get roughly ~30 Mbps in a coverage area, how could one ensure service availability with some assurance of throughput, if more devices (say 50) concentrate in a coverage area dynamically at some point in time.

RF spectrum is shared, so there aren't any guarantees.

You can do per-user and per-ssid traffic shapping.

You also have QoS options avaulable such as WMM, 802.11e and FastLane with managed Apple devices.
