Monitor passive MX450 in HA

Hi!

Our final cliente has two MX450 in HA in an active-passive architecture.

My NOC team is asking if it is possible to monitor the status (if its up or down) of the passive MX450?

Regards

By the way, our NOC team use SolarWinds to monitor this devices.

So they want to monitor the MX450 Passive in the SolarWinds

Thanks

Kind of a big deal

A warm spare MX does't have any IP addresses on the LAN side... So about the best you can do it try and poll the WAN side. You can do an ICMP poll of the WAN interface. I'm not sure if SNMP is available on the WAN (i'd hope the answer to that is "No").

I'm with @jdsilva - ping the WAN interface of the standby unit.

We monitor the WAN IP's of each MX and the shared virtual IP with simple ICMP ping.
