MX105 warm spare no ARP

We have to MX 105 setup for HA using warm spare configuration. Each MX015 is connected to a different L3 switch( Cisco 9500-40X), both WAN 1 interfaces are in the same vlan 100. Vlan 100 is configured using a SVIs on each switch and configured for HSRP.   Each MX is configured with a static IP: MX-1 10.100.100.16/24 and MX-2 10.100.100.15/24, virtual ip 10.100.100.17/24  GW 10.100.100.4/24. MX-1 register with Meraki Cloud using WAN 1, MX-2 couldn't register with Meraki Cloud using WAN 1. Look at the MAC table for vlan 100 both MXs MAC address are listed, the arp table for vlan 100 only has the arp for MX-1. Tried clearing the mac, rebooting the warm spare, disabling and enabling the switch port still had the same issue, no arp. Any ideas why the MX-2 is not advertising its IP address ?

Hey @dhayes89

If you see it in the MAC table but not the ARP table it doesn't sound like the static IP address might have been taken by the MX or it might have been factory reset and doesn't have an IP. Are you able to double check the local status page to confirm the static IP exists. If it does, are your 9500-40X devices capable of taking packet captures, we would want to see what kind of packets MX2 is generating.

I see the static ip address in the status page for using either the static or dhcp option. I don't see the ip address on the local status page for the  spare WAN 1. TEST- I used the WAN 2 copper port with the DHCP option. It is connected to the same switch but in a different vlan, it worked.

If you are using the copper WAN ports, they need to be plugged in at power up time to be used.  So if you are using the copper WAN ports - try power cycling the MX.

I used the reboot option in the tools section of the Meraki GUI. Should I perform the reboot by removing the power supplies ?

Problem resolved: Factory reset the MX 105, starting working .
