Hi,

I´m about to setup a HA Warm Spare. I have some questions regarding the steps.
I have multiply public IP addresses, so no problem with VIP configuration.

Today I´m using public IP address x.x.x.162 on the MX1-WAN 1 port and there is some default port forwarding rules associated with same IP.

The new MX2 Warm Spare WAN 1 will be configured as address x.x.x.166 and initaly use MX uplink IP.

What is the best next step to proceed?

Should I start to change IP address on MX1 and WAN 1 to new address x.x.x.165.

And then change MX 2 uplink IP to use virtual IP and put in x.x.x.162 as VIP

Or

Should I first change MX 2 uplink IP to use virtual IP and put in x.x.x.162 that is already used by MX1 WAN 1 and then change MX 1 WAN 1 to address x.x.x.165.

And the second question….

I guess the already configured default forwarding rules will then be associated used with when virtual IP is set as x.x.x.162?

I'd go with the first option as I don't think you'll be able to set the virtual IP to the same as MX1 interface IP, you need to change MX1 interface IP first.

I´m with you. And I guess configured default forwarding rules will be associated with virtual IP x.x.x.162 after configuration?
