Block google drive

Hi Guys,

Content filter is not working when blocking google drive, I have blocked all the URL/Wildcard method, but doesn't help. Case opened with Meraki support, but no update yet.

If I do apply an ACL for the google drive IP it works, but since these are cloud, IP will be keep changing.

Syed Junaid

The Personal Storage category is where Drive will fall. You could try blocking that way, but it may block other sites you don't want to.

Can you share a screenshot of your URL whitelist?

If not these docs might be helpful to review the details of the URL whitelist and some troubleshooting steps.

Correct, PS category blocks everything, that's what I have blocked only drive.google.com, but its not working at all. MX log says content filtering applied and blocked, but actually the sites loading.

Content filtering blocked URL url https://drive.google.com/..., server 172.217.163.46:443, category User-defined Blacklist

  • Make sure that the client you are configuring is not whitelisted. Try finding the client you are testing with by navigating to Network-wide > Monitor > Clients, opening their client page, and making sure their 'Policy' is not set to 'Whitelisted.'

Also you may try a packet capture which testing. I am betting there are other URLs that need to be blocked. Below is a link with what Google defines as the Drive URLs
