Automatic subnet allocation using template together with manual subnet allocation

Hi guys,

Do you know if there is a risk for conflict if you are using a template to allocate subnets automatic together with manual allocation?

For instance, let's say you got a template that gives out /24 subnets to different networks in your organization in the master subnet of 172.16.0.0/16.

But you are also doing manual subnet configuration to different networks in your organization within that master subnet.

Is there a risk that it could occur a conflict or does Meraki knows ALL the subnets within your organization and will not allow this conflict to happen?

Thank you!

Hi Virre,

I would state that if you're using templates and subnet allocations I would steer clear of dipping into that subnet for other purposes.

I would avoid doing what you are trying to do here because there could be a risk of conflict as Meraki definitely isn't conscious of all the subnets within your organisation. The documentation doesn't seem to answer exactly what you are asking, but templates are generally rather rigid because of the binding so I wouldn't mess with them too much if you aren't pushing all the config.

Good luck!
