Auto VPN and eBGP routing

Hello,

If we turn-off the Auto VPN (site to site from a Hub state) for a troubleshooting reason , does it affect the routing? - the BGP gets disabled? but not the OSPF?
and turning on the S2S VPN to Hub again, wont enable the BGP routing again?
Does it needs to be manually enabled on the routing page?
Please let me know if this is the expected behaviour.

Thanks.

Might need to know a bit more about your setup to be sure I'm giving appropriate advice but bear in mind that, if we're talking about JUST MX here then the BGP or OSPF (whichever you're using - and it wouldn't be both) is intrinsically tied in to the AutoVPN operation.   Turning off AutoVPN will tear down any VPN tunnels to/from that MX.   If it's a Hub MX, chances are it will be a lot of tunnels.

So basically, whether BGP or OSPF is enabled or disabled is a bit neither here nor there - if AutoVPN is off, what is the routing protocol carrying routes in and out of..?

Here's a slightly daft analogy;   it's like worrying about the state of the two interconnecting A-roads for your motorway, when the whole junction has been closed.

One slight caveat;   this might be slightly different if your MX is in routed mode...

Hope that makes some sense.

Thanks for the response. Firstly my question was not about the VPN tunnels or junction being closed or open 🙂

BGP was enabled before, turning off AutoVPN ,

Turning back the AutoVPN on must restore the settings which was working before. BGP went into a disabled state, but the OSPF is enabled.

I do not see any documents explaining this Meraki's way of networking.
