Meshing

Do these have to mesh or can you cluster them. Cluster would work better for the application that I am going to do, if that will work.

Meraki Go by default supports clustering if the Access Points are hard wired back to a router. The SSIDs setup through the app will advertise on all Meraki Go Access Points in the network and clients can roam between APs. Meshing is also supported, but of course comes with the caveat that the environment, type of traffic, number of clients and number of mesh nodes will impact performance.

Hi,

What is the maximum number of Meraki Go access points that can be meshed together? I would like to recommend it for a church building that is 30,000 sq ft and will have a small quantity of wifi users actively using it daily. Thank you,

Robert

Hi RBAUTISTA,

The more important consideration is topology. We generally recommend a star topology, with no more than one hop between the main access point and the mesh repeaters. Multi-hop paths are possible, but come at a fairly significant performance hit. In theory you could mesh up to the maximum supported number of APs in a Meraki Go network (20), however this would not be recommended, as it would not make efficient use of available WiFi channels and we would not expect a good experience for devices connecting to the WiFi.

It might be worth seeing if one of our local partners can help with assessing the feasibility of what you are attempting, or if the regular Meraki product might be a better fit https://www.meraki-go.com/c/r/merakigo/en/us/all-partners.html
