How can I select which Meraki Go AP a device connects to

Hi All

as above,   we have 3 AP's and a wireless printer..  the printer has an AP about 2 meters away but keeps connecting to one 50 meters away which is causing print issues.

how can I assign the IP address (or mac) to the correct AP ?

TIA

Ultimately the device determines which AP it will connect to, regardless of vendor.

a few recommendations to help:

1) move the printer further away from the AP. Being too close can have negative effects.

2) reduce the power level of the further APs. In an ideal environment, you want to reduce overlapping of acceptable signal strengths.

3) add a new SSID to just that one AP and connect the printer to it. This will 100% guarantee the printer only connects to that AP.

If it were me having this issue, I would create a separate WiFi name for your printer that’s pointed to the same VLAN as your other WiFi, or create a new trusted VLAN. Then remove broadcasting of your new printer WiFi network from every AP except the one you want your printer to connect to.
