Cisco Live US brought a raft of changes to the Cisco line of certifications, so I understand that Meraki may have to wait its turn. Do we have any more of an idea when the CMSS exam itself will come out? Still thinking end of this year?
Is anyone else looking at the DevNet Associate certification? If you look at the topic list, there's a good chunk of Meraki API deliciousness mixed in.
Yup, totally looking at the DevNet certs. Likely won't bother with associate though... IE or GTFO! 🙂
There's no CCIE yet for Devnet, I don't think, so you may be waiting a while... 😉 Right now, it's associate -> specialist (if you pass a specialist exam) -> Professional.
Plus I've only been programming again for about twelve months now, after a couple years off. I think associate is a reasonable first step, lol. I have such a strong brand at work that my team lead knew this was going to become my next target certificate before I even said anything. Now if only someone else here would learn to script!
Hah yeh as soon as I posted that I went and looked at them and noticed there wasn't an IE. I could have swore I saw that in the announcement stuff at Live last week... But I guess I was making stuff up in my head.
I spent a ton of time in the DevNetZone at Live. There was some really cool stuff happening in there. I really need to start exploring this stuff in more detail.
Hi @Nash,
The Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist certification is still slated to launch later this calendar year under the current Cisco certification framework as a technical specialist certification. We will be working next year to incorporate it where it makes sense into the new Cisco Next-level certification framework.
The Meraki Product Management team have been working with Learning@Cisco on the DevNet certification track so the material in there has been sourced, in part, from Meraki.
Thank you, @MattH! I think I am just excited to see Meraki integrated into the broader structure. It's a solid product line that uh, completely baffles my hardcore Cisco teammates on first peek. Since we're a Cisco/Meraki VAR, certifications are encouraged. Incorporating Meraki into the broader structure enables us to get the bosses to pay for our training, and eases their transition. 🙂
Good to hear. Cisco's certs are widely recognized. It's time for Meraki to be part of that and have equally recognized certifications! Looking forward to it!
