Can I still use old Meraki mini mesh-APs?

A friend of mine gave me some meraki minis like the one in this photo https://images.app.goo.gl/RuYJSLbpEDSycsSN8
that seem to be working and I was wondering if they can still be used

I tried to login to the Meraki dashboard in order to enroll those devices but got this error message:

"This is a Pro organization. To upgrade to the Enterprise or Advanced Security editions use the Upgrade page"

It sounds like you would need to gain control over the original organisation they were used in (a "Pro" organisation).

Otherwise they are throw away items now.

Are you serious?
I found this PDF stating that devices that haven't downloaded 2014 firmware updates won't be able
to connect to Meraki dashboard https://meraki.cisco.com/lib/pdf/eol/meraki_eol_mini.pdf
so I was wondering if there is a way to connect to the devices directly using telnet
and flash them with a more recent firmware.

I'm serious.

You can only upgrade via the dashboard.

Time to put them in the bin.

Unfortunately some of the original Meraki gear like Solar and Mini went Eod-of-Support a couple years ago so probably not much you can do with them in this case without native Dashboard access, you wouldn't really be able to call into Meraki Support anymore on these.  https://meraki.cisco.com/support#policies
