Is Android BYOD Enrolment Encryption optional somewhere?

Can I remove the need to encrypt the device with BYOD / SM App Managed?

This is an option with AirWatch and I have read this hampers device performance as it needs to unencrypt every time you use the device.

Thank you,
Peter James

I have not seen such an option. Perhaps in a future release it may be an option.

Oh and I have not seen any performance issues or loss on my tablets. Samsung Tab E in Kiosk mode.

I think encyption is a requirement of being tied to Googles 'Android for Work '.  I have not noticed any performance issues with it either

@Ponceme @Brickcounter - Thanks for letting me know there is no noticeable performance hit.

Airwatch make it optional: (Last Option)

Check out this note from our AfW Deployment Guide - it would appear to be a mandatory step in AfW enrollment:

"Google requires that Android 5.0+ devices be encrypted when using AfW. This is important for both general device security as well as application specific data security. "
