DEP/MacOS: Setting up firmware password remotely

 Hi community,

I'm trying to find a way to set a firmware password remotely for supervisioned MacBooks that got the agent and profile installed via DEP.

I tried using the Terminal function in Meraki SM and the sudo firmwarepasswd -setpasswd command on a brand new Macbook, without any success. There was no firmware password set before.

Background of this request: We want to order Macbooks to our coworkers private adress directly, without having to setting those devices up in our office beforehand.

Any directions/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Best Regards

Florian

I don't know if this is possible using Systems Manager, usually it required setting up a payload in a profile. SM doesn't seem to have that option.

I would contact support and ask them if its possible as I have not found any Meraki documentation explaining the process but have found plenty for other MDM vendors.
