Kenyan Hotel – Full Meraki Network Deployment
We recently wrapped up a full-stack Meraki deployment for a Hilton Collection hotel, designed to provide a reliable, high-performance, and secure network experience for both guests and staff.
Project Purpose
The goal was to deliver seamless connectivity throughout the property, support IPTV and VoIP services, and enable secure guest internet access. The client required a modern, cloud-managed infrastructure with high visibility and easy remote management.
Meraki Gear Used
MX Security Appliance: For robust firewall, VPN, and threat protection.
MS Series Switches: For reliable backbone switching and PoE support across floors.
MR30H Access Points: Deployed in guest rooms—perfect for hospitality use with built-in switch ports for IPTV and VoIP.
MR44 Access Points: Installed in indoor public areas like lounges, reception, and restaurants to handle dense usage.
MR76 Outdoor Access Points: Provided coverage for pool areas, terraces, and exterior walkways
Non-Meraki Gear:
ANTlabs IG 4S gateway for advanced captive portal, PMS integration, and bandwidth shaping
Patch panels, rackmount hardware, and structured CAT6 cabling
UPS systems for power redundancy
Challenges & Solutions
Construction Coordination: The project was running parallel to ongoing construction, so we had to coordinate closely with other contractors to ensure timely cabling and access point installations.
Coverage Planning: With a mix of thick walls and varied interior layouts, heatmapping and careful AP placement were key to achieving consistent signal and throughput.
Room Aesthetics: Guest room APs needed to be low-profile and match the interior design—MR30H fit perfectly for both performance and aesthetics.
Next Steps
We’re planning a remote monitoring dashboard handover to the client's IT team, complete with documentation and training. We also look forward to implementing API-based integrations for analytics and PMS-enhanced guest experiences.
