GetNetworkClients missing a filter

Hi ,

When you go to network clients on your networks you can filter for clients by device type : Security Appliance clients , switch clients or wireless clients :

However we don't have that option when using the API.

Is this something coming ?

Hey Raphael,
recentDeviceConnections can help you filter wired from wireless. However, won't differentiate between a security appliance and a switch.
Would that help?

Yup that's why it is not working.

When you filter from the dashboard and select Security Appliance clients , it only select clients that were sampled by a MX , even though they were connected to a MS.

This is exactly what we are trying to achieve with the API , without success

Here is the missing context :

( this is a validated Meraki design btw )

We have sites that have 2 MXs.

MX A routes red vlans

MX B routes green vlans.

Switch "sees" / samples everything.

When you perform GetNetworkClients on Network A , since it contains the switch you will get EVERY clients even if they are not routed by MX A. This is something you CAN exclude from the client page on Network A ( from the dashboard ). But you CAN'T do that with the API.

Hope that helps.

Not what you are looking for; but something that has helped me in the past is to filter by vlan.

I haven't tried it, but what about filtering on recentDeviceConnections?
