Requirements for monitoring Cisco Catalyst 9k's

I have someone interested in trying out the Meraki dashboard monitoring of their Catalyst 9k switches.

The documentation says you need a DNS Advantage licence.  Their licence has expired.  They don't want to buy a new licence just to try it out.

Does the system check for the licence at the moment?  If not, what is the process to get a trial licence?

As far as I know:

In order to take advantage of cloud monitoring, an active Cisco DNA subscription (either Cisco DNA Essentials or Cisco DNA Advantage) is required.

I didn't hear trial for this yet, maybe the Meraki presale can clarify it.
