Request for Guidance: Migrating a Network Between Meraki Organizations

Hi,

I'm currently working on a project that involves migrating a Meraki network (including devices and configurations) from one Meraki organization to another.

Here’s my current setup:

  • I have Organization Admin access in the destination organization.

  • I can request Organization Admin support from the source org if needed.

I'm looking for the official Cisco Meraki guide or best practices for this type of migration, including:

  1. The proper process for moving devices between organizations when Org Admin access is only available on the destination side (with the ability to request access or support from the source).

  2. How to handle configuration recreation — is there any tool or script available to export and import settings between orgs?

  3. How license transfers are handled — can licenses be moved between organizations, and what role does Meraki Support play in this process?

  4. What specific steps Meraki Support can assist with if the source organization agrees to the migration.

Any official documentation, recommendations, or advice from those who have performed similar migrations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Boundless Digital sell a tool for doing this.

If (and only if) you are migrating to a new Meraki Organisation, you can request an "Org Split".  This keeps all the configs.

Thanks for suggesting the org split option. Though in this case we're migrating to an existing org that already has other networks, this is good to know for future reference.

Take a look at the documentation, but to be honest, wouldn't it be easier for you as an administrator to remove the accounts that you no longer want to access the organization instead of having to reconfigure everything?

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

If the two Orgs are of the same license type (ex. co-term) and the same Org admin exists in both Orgs there's a license move feature https://documentation.meraki.com/General_Administration/Licensing/How_to_do_a_License_Transfer_in_Co...

Note - the licenses still need to be active to be eligible to move. Meaning, a license that already individually expired (like a 3 year license from 5 years ago) cannot be moved.

Everything else you asked about is basically manual operations today whether it's via UI, API, or a third party tool.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, this is about two completely different organizations with different Orgs admins.
