License Alert expiring

Why does Meraki not send you a notice that your license is expiring?

Meraki sends email alerts for license expiry and out-of-compliance issues, typically starting 90 days (compliance) or 30 days (out-of-compliance) before expiration.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

Are you an organization admin?

You can also customize this setting Organization > Configure > Settings by adding your e-mail address for licensing, hardware defects, and maintenance.

I've actually had companies raise this - and then I found they had disabled the alerts by setting them to "none".

Assuming the license model is co-term.

Will I be notified before my license expires?

Yes, administrators listed on the account will be sent Alerts and notifications outlining the steps for license extension. Additionally, email alerts will be sent out periodically to Dashboard Administrators.

  • If the Organization is out of compliance (e.g., more devices in use than licensed), email alerts will be sent at the following intervals: 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day.
  • If the Organization is in compliance, email alerts will be sent at the following intervals: 90 days, 30 days, 2 days, and 1 day

As others have mentioned there are a couple of additional things to confirm. First, is to make sure alerts are enabled and being sent to the correct Admins.

Note, these Admins need to be local Admin accounts. SAML Admins aren't included as dashboard isn't aware of those email accounts.

If alerts are enabled, but not being received make sure they're not being caught be a spam/junk email rule or email gateway type of device. I've seen for example a Barracuda email gateway catching Meraki license emails and not sending them to users.

Also, license emails have an unsubscribe link. I've seen examples of Admins unsubscribing from license emails and then wondering why they don't receive them anymore. Under the Admin profile if this message is showing that means the account was unsubscribed.
